I decided to write a post about my top five favourite reads of the year so far. There is something for everyone on this list, and I highly recommend all of them!
1.) Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. Where do I start? It's been a while since I have read a YA fantasy book that I have absolutely sped through from start to finish. The whole cast of characters, the wolfs-building, the writing style. Even a bit of romance (but not too much). This duology is simply one of the best I have ever read. I don't want to say much more, except: read it!
2.) Hollow City and Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
I read the first one whilst on holiday about a year ago and for some reason, I have only recently finished the last two in the series! The trilogy has now become a firm favourite of mine. If you like fantasy and young adult series with a great cast of characters and adventure, you'll adore this trilogy. You can read my review of this here: http://bit.ly/2ukMfmM
3.) The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. The Hate U Give is a wonderfully told story about a young black girl in america, it's heart-breaking and honest. You can read my review of it here: http://bit.ly/2p42m2g
4.) HomeGoing by Yaa Gyasi
Homegoing is unlike any book I have ever read. Told through the perspective of generations of two families, it is an astonishing novel by a debut author that I can't wait to read more from. You can read my review here: http://bit.ly/2vMpiqn
5.) Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern Where Rainbows End is about two people called Rosie and Alex, who having known each other since they were children, eventually go their separate ways, only to be reunited about 40 years later. It's a sweet, romantic read, that managed to even warm the cockles of my icy heart. The way the novel is written in messages and emails is also interesting and a different way to read a book. Highly recommend, this would make the perfect beach read!
