We all know the trouble with finishing a book you adored and the aftermath that can often follow. A constant state of mmm what on earth to read next?Well I've got some handy tips that never fail to work wonders when I get hit with the dreaded reading slump.
1.) Re-read a chapter of a book you love! For me it always ends up being Chapter 1 of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is a no brainer, it will give you inspiration for the type of book you next want to read AND give you nostalgia of a book you love.
2.) My second no-fail tip is to read something light. Pick up a copy of your favourite magazine, comic or even poetry book. The worst thing to do when encountering the reading slump is to try and tackle something like War and Peace. You want to try and inspire yourself again, not hinder your chances of tackling your sky high TBR pile.
3.) My third no-brainer tip is to organize your bookshelf. A tidy bookshelf, will give you that spark of motivation to actually read some of them! At worst you'll be procrastinating staring at your wonderfully tidy shelves.
4.) Why not go for a wonder around somewhere that inspires you? Walk your dog (or someone else's) at your local park. Visit a library, they are free AND you could rent a book for free, maybe try something you wouldn't normally read.
5.) My final tip is to watch a film or TV series, maybe even listen to an audio book. It's something different from what you normally might spend your time doing. Watch your favourite film, a film you haven't seen. Listening to an Audio Book would be a great way to inspire yourself. It's the joy of a book without having to actually read. Audio books are on the rise, now a great way to enjoy literature.
Thank You for reading, I hope this helped should you face every readers nightmare!
